Overview:
Supports installation, configuration, capacity planning, problem resolution, and debugging of all environments pertaining to middleware products. Provides software design and development on frameworks and other middleware related projects. Oversees middleware implementation projects. Works with internal middleware teams to test, implement, integrate, and administer middleware. Provides management with reports concerning middleware utilization, capacity, availability, and support. Coordinates and implements middleware releases with release management and IT teams. Owns and maintains operational and administration manuals. Provides troubleshooting for processes and procedures. Documents all existing and new middleware platforms and infrastructure with respect to functionality, maintenance, and administration. Designs, codes, tests, debugs, documents, maintains, and modifies computer programs of high complexity, significance, and risk. Assists with application system problem resolution by working with application developers, vendors, and internal infrastructure team members to troubleshoot.

Key Accountabilities
:
Manages the daily operation of JBoss application Server. Monitors resource utilization, including such items as CPU, memory, and disk utilization. Reports on system utilization and plan/implement recommended maintenance as required. Performs impact analysis for appropriate tasks.
Works with other teams in the design and configuration of secure access to JBoss resources.
Applies and promotes patches.
Develops, tests, and implements automation scripts.
Supports day-to-day data integration through WebServices, JBoss JMS operations with our partners and clients, including identifying any technical problems with inbound/outbound transmissions.
Troubleshoots and researches problems through log file mining and analysis.
Works with Developers and Database Administrators in the implementation of new applications.
Identifies impact to capacity.
Maintains documentation related to infrastructure and architecture of web systems.
Produces project related documentation and provide estimates to the project Lead or Manager for work to be completed.
Assists in recommendations for disaster recovery of web environments.
Must become familiar with IT operations and make recommendations for improvement where appropriate.
Deploys applications to production and non-production environments. Troubleshoot application server issues related to the platform. Creates support tickets and work with vendors as needed.
Attends project, team and company meetings.
Partners with the application teams on testing the application server.
Meet availability and performance standards.
Assists in the development and enforcement of policies concerning application development standards as well as providing examples to Developers, and scheduling of deployment activity as well as new installations of mid tier infrastructure.
Stays abreast of new technologies and methodologies in the middleware space.
Proactively improves on current practices and procedures.
Documents procedures and policies of the team to store in the Knowledge Base.
Automates any task that would accelerate our process.
Skills Summary
:
10 years of experience and Bachelors Degree
Senior level technical operational skills, such as troubleshooting, capacity planning and root cause analysis.
Excellent customer orientation and delivery focus with good end user perspective.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively with team members and virtual teams (Operations, Solution owners, etc.).
Desirable understanding of Computer Systems Validation.
Desirable ITIL Knowledge.
Practical Java/J2EE programming experience.
Experience with SOAP/REST interoperability.
Working understanding (experience with) of WS-Security, WS-Trust and WS-Federation.
Understanding of the interaction between Java and none Java systems in an enterprise environment (example: the role of a X.509 PKI and how it effects WAS or JBoss applications)
Experience with enterprise system monitoring and high availability architectures.
Familiarity and experience operating in an enterprise environment using formal procedures and policies required for escalation and outage resolution. o Installation, configuration, performance tuning, upgrade, security and monitoring of JBOSS Application Server running on UNIX environment.
JBOSS Webserver installation and configuration using virtual host, SSL etc.
Experience related to JBOSS Application Server Clustering for High Availability and Load balancing.
Experience with installing and configuring of JBOSS Operations Network (JON).
Providing technical assistance to the entire team of application developers and providing maximum system availability and uptime for all JBOSS environments.
This position is responsible for possessing and developing a detailed understanding of J2EE standards, JDBC configuration, JNDI Directory Services, SOAP and WebServices.
Use of programming scripts such as Bash/Korn Shell scripting for administration and documenting support procedures.
Validating backup techniques to ensure ease of system recoverability and developing disaster recovery plans.
Use of deployment tools like Anthill Pro, uDeploy and other diagnostic tools like BMC Patrol, DynaTrace, ITCAM and Tivoli monitor to troubleshoot complex application problems to maintain or restore services.
Timely security patching and applying support fixes as required by varying compliance initiatives.
Support and implementation of the Security policies and Controls as defined and developed by the Information Security team.
Timely and accurate completion of other tasks as defined by the Manager of Infrastructure Field Services.
Participate in an on-call rotation for production support of JBOSS systems.
6 years experience with Real Time JBOSS Application Server infrastructure environments.
Demonstrated experience with Linux (Red Hat), Solaris and other operating systems.
Demonstrated experience with Clustering and Performance tuning.
Demonstrated experience with production support.
Ability to anticipate problems and take decisive action.
