PermanentAbout the Principal Systems Engineer PositionAs a Principal Systems Engineer, you are responsible for systems planning, design, implementation, configuration, and support.
In this role you will continually act to improve systems reliability through preventive maintenance, feature enhancements, automation, and support contracts.
A Principal Systems Engineer will also provide effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure across IT and OT environments, 2 primary data centers, and 17 industrial facilities.
This position ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational standards.
The Principal Systems Engineer manages medium to large scale projects from conception to completion including timeline, internal/external resources, and budget.
A successful person will have a security mindset and approach.

Responsible for systems planning, design, implementation, configuration, and support.
Continually acts to improve systems reliability through preventive maintenance, feature enhancements, automation, and support contracts.
Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc.
in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures and develop and maintain system standards.
Manage medium to large scale projects from conception to completion including timeline, internal/external resources, and budget.
Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks.
Identify approaches that leverage resources and provide economies of scale.
Provide technical leadership and expertise, acting as a SME and internal consultant to peers, less experienced Engineers and to the business.
Analysis and proposals for enhancements to enterprise and Operations Technology environments.
Aid in the implementation of enterprise and Operations Technology security solutions.
Provide technical expertise (i.
e.
, tactical, and operational) on evaluation, selection, implementation, and maintenance of information systems.
Partner with the IT management team on strategic technology initiatives and projects to forecast costs, equipment, and resources.
Drive automation in operational tasks to improve efficiency and traceability of activities.
Researches and implements best practices for infrastructure services, including proven infrastructure methodologies, service management processes, and operational support.
Key Skills:
Strong Linux/Red Hat systems engineering.
