Senior Application Engineer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide technical leadership and mentoring for SEL Application Engineers in power system protection and control.
Help customers apply and troubleshoot SEL products through visits, demonstrations, training courses and telephone contact.
Develop, test, and document solutions to complex power system protection, control, and metering challenges for an evolving power grid using SEL products and solutions.
Contribute to new product specifications and product enhancements.
Participate and present at SEL seminars, industry technical meetings, and conferences.
Teach and develop course materials for SEL University.
Contribute to white papers, application guides, industry journals, and/or technical papers through authorship and review.
Model and teach SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World-Class Manufacturing principles.
Other duties as assigned.
Work LocationsThis position is available in the following SEL office locationsAlpharetta, GADothan, ALLutz, FLCharlotte, NCChattanooga, TNTupelo, MSJackson, MSNormal working hours for this position are Monday through Friday 8 a.
m.
to 5 p.
m.
? Up to 40% of normal working hours can be performed from home depending on applicant experience and location.
Travel to customer sites, conferences, training classes, etc.
may comprise 25%-33% of normal working days.
Required QualificationsMust have a Professional Engineer license and/or Senior IEEE membership for US/CAN region.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent engineering degree)Typically 10
years of experience in power systems and industry practicesAbility to write and speak English coherentlyDesired Qualifications Relevant work experience and knowledge of utility and/or industrial power systems with an emphasis on protection, control, and operations.
Familiarity with IEEE, IEC, and NERC standards that govern and guide power system protection, control, and metering methods.
Specific field experience with setting, testing, and/or commissioning of protective relays and meters in multiple of the following focus areas:
Generator Protection Transmission Line Protection Transformer Protection Capacitor Bank Protection Bus Protection Distribution Feeder Protection Motor Protection Revenue Metering Power Quality Ability to build technical support relationships with internal and external customers.
