Your OpportunityWe are currently looking to add an Environmental Technician to support our Alpharetta, Georgia (ALP) office location.
The successful candidate for this position will perform soil, groundwater, and surface water sampling to support remediation projects across the southeastern United States.
In addition to performing environmental sampling, the position will also support routine maintenance and operation of groundwater remediation and water treatment systems.
The role is based out of Alpharetta, GA and requires an independent individual with environmental sampling experience or similar background.
The role requires significant travel and the ability to work alone or in small teamsYour Key Responsibilities Routine gauging and sampling of groundwater monitoring wells using US EPA protocol including accurate completion of labels and chain-of-custody forms, and packaging samples for shipment Produce accurate and complete documentation during sampling while working in field/ inclement conditions Routine completion of remediation system operation data sheets and transmitting these data sheets (scan and e-mail) to the office Trouble-shooting, repairing, cleaning and optimizing operation of groundwater treatment systems 70% to 80% travel through the Southeastern US (Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee) with company reimbursement of business expenses.
Support and conduct site assessments (Phase I ESA, Phase II ESA).
Actively participate in maintaining Stantec's safety culture Your Capabilities and CredentialsoAbility to work with limited oversight, oAbility to pass a background security checkoStrong organization and time management skillsoStrong interpersonal skills and professionalism Strong verbal and written communication skills, including exceptional MS Office skills.
Strong note-taking skills and attention to detail.
Basic understanding of technical writing skills.
Experienced at working well in a team atmosphere and independently as required.
Working understanding of policies and procedures for HSSE, including client-specific training (as required).
Working knowledge of field sampling techniques.
Must have the willingness to learn new skills while conducting field work Experience/knowledge of hazardous materials as emergency response are desirable.
Conscientious, organized, and disciplined.
Builds and maintains productive professional and personal networking relationships within their technical team and Business Center.
Good driving record and valid driver's license required Preferred Skills & Abilities:
oPrevious experience with environmental sampling oExperience performing equipment maintenance as well as using and trouble-shooting electronic field instrumentsoAble to consistently record clear, detailed field notes, and have very good to excellent verbal and written communication skillsoAble to work independently to successfully complete fieldwork (sampling, equipment maintenance/repair, or other activities)oAfter a minimum of 4 weeks of training, be able to independently identify equipment materials and supplies needed for sampling events or other routine fieldwork; able to order field equipment from vendors and suppliers at costs within a specified budgetoInterface in a positive manner with staff including senior engineers, geologists, and project managersoIntermediate experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teamso40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER trainingEducation and ExperienceTechnical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 0-2 years of experience.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
