DBA Manager
Job Summary The Database manager will be responsible for managing the administration and performance of database systems and technologiesAnalyzes the organization's database needs and develops a long-term strategy for data storage and consumptionEstablishes policies and procedures related to data security, integrity, and monitoringOversees the design, maintenance and implementation of the systems that manage dataReporting to the Sr Director of Production Operations, the DBA manager also manages a team of DBAsResponsibilities o Maintains database performance and stability by setting and enforcing standards and controlso Prepares for database growth by studying plans, historical data, and future requirementso Keeps senior technical management informed by preparing reports on system performance and issueso Upgrades hardware and software through system lifecycle managementAlong with major and minor version upgrades to ensure a technology or platform does not fall out of mainstream supporto Maintains database performance and stability through proactive monitoring and troubleshooting problemso Works with architecture and engineering teams to optimize the performance of application services and their interaction with the application's data layero Secures database access by developing and enforcing policies, procedures, and controlso Carries out data migration and transformation related to system upgrades and disaster recoveryo Ensures data is backed up and secured as defined by corporate policyo Manages a remote global team of Database Administrators, mentors and trains the team and provides daily oversighto Provides and ensures project management on DBA team taskso Provide prompt customer service to meet customer SLAso Promotes a collaborative environment within the DBA team and other teams within the organizationo Other duties as assignedQualifications o Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, related field, or equivalent professional experienceo At least seven years of experience with database technologies such as Mongo, Postgres, Cassandra, Cassandra, SQL Server, or related technologieso At least four years combined experience as a team lead or team manager with direct reporting DBA or similar technical staff, previous experience with a global workforce a pluso Experience in AWS technologies and services including RDS, DocumentDB, Cloudwatch and OpenSearcho Experience with monitoring tools such as DataDogo Strong analytical and organizational skills o Data-driven and results-focusedo Ability to understand complex business processes and requirements to provide reporting and data solutionso Understanding of structured query language o Relational Database Management Systems experience o Current technology understanding with a strong drive to stay current with emerging and mainstream database technologiesTravel o Less than 5% The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classificationThey are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required of personnel so classifiedAll personnel may be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities from time to time, as neededEqual Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities The contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicantHowever, employees who have access to the compensation information of other employees or applicants as a part of their essential job functions cannot disclose the pay of other employees or applicants to individuals who do not otherwise have access to compensation information, unless the disclosure is (a) in response to a formal complaint or charge, (b) in furtherance of an investigation, proceeding, hearing, or action, including an investigation conducted by the employer, or (c) consistent with the contractor's legal duty to furnish information41 CFR 60-1.
