Payroll Manager- ML

My client is looking for a Payroll Manager to join their Finance team. The position manages entire bi-weekly payroll process for separate U.S. and Canada payrolls, using Ceridian HR/Payroll Web (U.S.) and Ceridian PowerPay (Canada). This includes all payroll data entry and/or file uploads, ensuring proper calculations of taxes and net pay, and creation of back-end reporting to include creation of retirement plan files, general ledger files, garnishment processing, accrual processing and any associated accounting entries. This is a high-touch, highly visible position within the company and serves as the main point of contact for employee payroll questions. Ability to work independently with minimal guidance is essential.
Analyzes, prepares, inputs and reconciles payroll data using automated systems to produce accurate and timely payroll. Ensures compliance with all applicable wage and hour laws.
Manages Kronos timekeeping system to ensure hourly staff are properly recording their time and that we have required management sign-off.
Coordinates creation of monthly bonus accrual file for uploading to general ledger system.
Reconciles and then distributes bi-weekly payroll entries for uploading to general ledger system.
Serves as liaison to Tax Filing Outsourcer ensuring that any tax-related matters are resolved in a timely.
Maintains payroll procedures within Payroll Processing Guide.
Produces various scheduled and ad-hoc reporting as requested by Management.
Creates bi-weekly retirement plan files for uploading to retirement plan administrators.
Manages the expatriate payroll administration for U.S. employees, to include: coordination and preparation of payroll entries, communication with external tax advisor, and reporting.

Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or similar field preferred (years of experience will be considered, in lieu of degree).
7 or more years of experience executing the payroll process (from beginning to end) for a small to mid-size company. Experience must include hands-on maintenance of employee data and payroll processing.
Must maintain current knowledge of applicable wage & hour laws with experience handling multi-state payroll processing.
Must maintain current knowledge of payroll taxes and regulatory reporting requirements.
Must have a strong understanding of financial reporting as it relates to the general ledger.
Must have strong report-writing skills with the ability to further manipulate data within Microsoft Excel. Intermediate to advanced user of Excel required.
Must be able to format data uploads for interfacing with other systems.
Timeliness, attention to detail and accuracy are paramount.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
