Current Need
This position is responsible for supporting the business intelligence systems used by the FP&A; and accounting departments. The main responsibility of the role is to administer, develop and optimize the IBM Cognos TM1 OLAP database server. In addition to the TM1 system there are several other ancillary systems that require development and support, namely ArcPlan, MDS, Citrix, Finance share drive and SQL Server. The position requires strong analytical and financial modeling skills, an advanced OLAP and Business Intelligence skills and a good understanding of financial and accounting fundamentals.
Position Description
Technical
Act as the primary system administrator to support and enhance the Business Intelligence and Reporting systems for the Finance department. These systems include: IBM Cognos TM1 (OLAP reporting database), ArcPlan (web-reporting and interface tool) and MDS (master data management tool)
Provide client support for over 150 US, Canadian and European based TM1 users. Work with users to troubleshoot system and model issues
Source, manipulate and upload data from several source systems using the BI and database ETL tools. The source systems include PeopleSoft, SAP, Hewitt (HR Benefits outsourcing company) and several other financial and accounting systems
Write TM1 processes to transfer data between various categories (versions)
Create extracts from TM1 to upload into HFM, PeopleSoft, MDS and SAP
Build back-end SQL queries to source data from SQL Server databases to upload into SAP and BI tools
Create DTS packages and scheduled jobs to load data into SQL Server databases and provide routine system backups and maintenance
Implement and maintain security models using server, cube, dimension and cell-level security for financial and HR- related data
Write complex business rules to provide additional reporting capabilities.
Create feeder rules to optimize business rules and improve performance.
Enhance and maintain system and financial models, including allocations, revenue planning and more
Provide training on new functionality and business models to the FP&A; and accounting departments
Write detailed system documentation to explain business models, processes and data flow
Manage master data for hierarchies and elements within cubes and dimensions
Develop and maintain ArcPlan reporting environment
Administer/upgrade servers and software for TM1, MDS, ArcPlan and development environments
Assist in ERP or other projects in all areas of responsibility including hierarchy, define activity rates, define interfaces between SAP and TM1 and assessment and allocation models
Financial Planning & Analysis
Have a solid understanding of profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, etc
Create financial models, metrics, and business rules
Minimum Requirements
6
years experience in designing, building, and implementing business solutions using information technology. Significant experience in business analysis, requirements definition and deployment of business requirements to information systems.
Critical Skills
Advanced Excel
Additional Knowledge & Skills
5 to 7 years in the business intelligence industry (preferably with TM1). Working knowledge of financial and accounting processes and principals
SAP, SQL, VB is nice to have
Education
4-year degree in IT or related field
MBA/MS a plus
