The Unix Administrator performs a wide variety of tasks in software/hardware maintenance and operational support of Solaris and Linux based systems. They are responsible for maintaining all hosted customer environments.

These responsibilities include maintaining all Oracle Linux Operating Systems, Solaris 10 Operating Systems, hardware, system security, FTP and SFTP servers, daily system administration, and a disaster recovery site for emergency fail-over of all client applications.

JOB FUNCTIONS
Installation, configuration, monitoring, and deployment of Linux/Solaris servers.
Analyze and resolve problems with server hardware setup, tuning and troubleshooting the Linux (Oracle Enterprise Linux/Red Hat) and Sun Solaris operating system (Solaris 10).
Applying packages and security patches on Solaris and Linux servers.
Developing new Unix scripts to support task automation and monitoring activities.
Supporting and troubleshooting Solaris networking services and protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, NFS, SFTP, SSH, sendmail, and LDAP.
Creating detailed documentation.
Perform system wide updates, server installations, and general maintenance during monthly maintenance windows.
Maintain current knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment and systems.
Reporting on system availability, performance and security compliance.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
5
years experience as a Linux or Sun Solaris system administrator.
Linux/Solaris 10 system administration certification is welcome.
Experience with virtual technologies such as VMware and/or Oracle Virtual Machine.
Knowledge of Veritas software is a plus (VCS or Storage Foundation).
Experience with automation tools such as Puppet is welcome
Experience with PeopleSoft applications is a plus.
Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner. Gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
Speaks clearly and listens and gets clarification. Responds well to questions and participates in meetings.
Able to communicate in written and spoken English with attention to proper spelling and grammar.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
