The Claims Manager provides leadership, technical expertise and mentoring to workers' compensation claim team to ensure timely, efficient and quality claim outcomes. Ensure team delivers excellent service to all customers and business partners through appropriate handling and disposition of claims. Drives team''s overall results to ensure compliance to established Best Claim, Service and Communication Practices in contributing to critical objectives.
30% - Provides technical and managerial oversight on all claims handled by assigned staff. Evaluates and measures operational compliance with Best Claim, Service and Communication Practices through completion of open file reviews. Ensures full compliance to all state's established regulatory compliance requirements. Maintains a current oversight diary to assist staff in attaining appropriate claim outcomes through an ongoing review of claim files and by providing meaningful guidance and direction on claim handling, case evaluation, Claim Summary Report content quality, and disposition strategy. Conducts follow-up reviews to make certain of compliance.
25% - Ensures assigned team has a clear understanding and the importance of achieving goals and critical objectives. Provides updates and direction to team regarding results versus objectives to ensure continual focus is maintained on action items necessary to achieve desired performance levels. Provides training where required and works with team members with their career development. Addresses performance issues with targeted improvement remediation plans.
25% - Participates in review of highest valued/most complex claims in excess of assigned staff''s authority levels. Within assigned authority level, delegates appropriate reserve and settlement authority to team members. Identifies claims requiring input of Claim Assistant Vice President (AVP), participates in Committee Reviews with claim handlers and Claim AVP to ensure appropriate file strategies are identified with documented action steps to be completed within acceptable time frames.
20% - Plans, manages and evaluates work of staff, makes decisions regarding pay, performance management, employee development, employment and staffing.
Bachelor's degree.
5 years claims adjusting experience including handling high valued/complex Workers' Compensation claims.
Adjuster's license as required by state.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Ability to review, evaluate and provide technical claim
handling direction.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
